Adjusting of already compiled Binary file sizes

Using rpmbuild, (the version distributed with RH9) I'm confused to observe that the 'binary' files (only) are touched and resized (yet their functionality still remains in tack) after packaging them into an rpm file.

Is this normal?

Can this be adjusted so that the Binaries I'm including into the rpm build are the exact same checksum both before and after the build?

Why is it happening? (I'm definatly a newbie at this)

Chris
