The UW license is not truly open-source. Thus it was dropped by Red Hat. There's numerous discussions on this elsewhere.

There are also at least a few different RPM's being packaged/SRPM's that can be rebuild on RHEL 3 generation.

There's a tremendous amount of stuff that "went away" on RH AS and ES,
I would imagine so that Red Hat has to support less software.  Pine may
also have gone away because of issues with the license (just a guess).
