problem with recording

i have SB16 and Bt878 TV card and installed RedHat 9. with xawtv, i can
watch TV without any problem. but when i record TV program, sound can't be
recorded. i see something like "oss: read: Input/output error".

when i use sound recorder in gnome, i also have problem with sound
recording.
