I am trying to get a new soundcard to work under Redhat 8.0. I've seen lots of postings about getting the Soundblaster 16 PCI to work in linux but I haven't been able to fix my problem. The soundcard is detected as a Ensoniq 5880. It looks like people have gotten in to work using this configuration, but I'm still lost. Here is some of my machines configuration info: ______________________________________________________________________ lspci -v -------- 00:00.0 Host bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] AMD-760 MP [IGD4-2P] System Controller (rev 11) Flags: bus master, 66Mhz, medium devsel, latency 32 Memory at e8000000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=128M] Memory at fb000000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=4K] I/O ports at ec00 [disabled] [size=4] Capabilities: [a0] AGP version 2.0 00:01.0 PCI bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] AMD-760 MP [IGD4-2P] AGP Bridge (prog-if 00 [Normal decode]) Flags: bus master, 66Mhz, medium devsel, latency 32 Bus: primary=00, secondary=01, subordinate=01, sec-latency=32 00:07.0 ISA bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] AMD-768 [Opus] ISA (rev 05) Flags: bus master, 66Mhz, medium devsel, latency 0 00:07.1 IDE interface: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] AMD-768 [Opus] IDE (rev 04) (prog-if 8a [Master SecP PriP]) Subsystem: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] AMD-768 [Opus] IDE Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 32 [virtual] I/O ports at 01f0 [virtual] I/O ports at 03f4 [virtual] I/O ports at 0170 [virtual] I/O ports at 0374 I/O ports at e000 [size=16] 00:07.3 Bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] AMD-768 [Opus] ACPI (rev 03) Subsystem: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] AMD-768 [Opus] ACPI Flags: medium devsel 00:07.5 Multimedia audio controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] AMD-768 [Opus] Audio (rev 03) Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 32, IRQ 17 I/O ports at e400 [size=256] I/O ports at e800 [size=64] 00:10.0 PCI bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] AMD-768 [Opus] PCI (rev 05) (prog-if 00 [Normal decode]) Flags: bus master, 66Mhz, medium devsel, latency 32 Bus: primary=00, secondary=02, subordinate=02, sec-latency=32 I/O behind bridge: 0000d000-0000dfff Memory behind bridge: f8000000-faffffff Prefetchable memory behind bridge: f0000000-f7ffffff 02:00.0 USB Controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] AMD-768 [Opus] USB (rev 07) (prog-if 10 [OHCI]) Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 32, IRQ 19 Memory at fa000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4K] 02:04.0 Multimedia audio controller: Ensoniq 5880 AudioPCI (rev 04) Subsystem: Ensoniq Creative Sound Blaster AudioPCI128 Flags: bus master, slow devsel, latency 32, IRQ 16 I/O ports at d000 [size=64] Capabilities: [dc] Power Management version 2 02:05.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV11 [GeForce2 MX] (rev b2) (prog-if 00 [VGA]) Flags: bus master, 66Mhz, medium devsel, latency 248, IRQ 17 Memory at f8000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16M] Memory at f0000000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=128M] Expansion ROM at <unassigned> [disabled] [size=64K] Capabilities: [60] Power Management version 2 02:06.0 Ethernet controller: 3Com Corporation 3c905C-TX/TX-M [Tornado] (rev 6c) Subsystem: 3Com Corporation 3C905C-TX Fast Etherlink for PC Management NIC Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 32, IRQ 18 I/O ports at d400 [size=128] Memory at fa001000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=128] Expansion ROM at <unassigned> [disabled] [size=128K] Capabilities: [dc] Power Management version 2 _______________________________________________________________________ /etc/modules.conf ----------------- alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc alias eth0 3c59x alias usb-controller usb-ohci alias sound-slot-0 i810_audio post-install sound-slot-0 /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -L >/dev/null 2>&1 || : pre-remove sound-slot-0 /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -S >/dev/null 2>&1 || : alias char-major-195 nvidia pre-remove sound-slot-1 /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -S >/dev/null 2>&1 || : alias sound-slot-1 es1371 post-install sound-slot-1 /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -L >/dev/null 2>&1 || : _______________________________________________________________________ lsmod ----- Module Size Used by Tainted: P es1371 34792 0 (autoclean) gameport 3540 0 (autoclean) [es1371] i810_audio 26440 0 (autoclean) ac97_codec 13512 0 (autoclean) [es1371 i810_audio] soundcore 7108 6 (autoclean) [es1371 i810_audio] nvidia 1767648 11 (autoclean) autofs 13668 0 (autoclean) (unused) 3c59x 31344 1 ipt_REJECT 3736 6 (autoclean) iptable_filter 2412 1 (autoclean) ip_tables 15608 2 [ipt_REJECT iptable_filter] mousedev 5688 1 keybdev 2976 0 (unused) hid 22404 0 (unused) input 6240 0 [mousedev keybdev hid] usb-ohci 22024 0 (unused) usbcore 80512 1 [hid usb-ohci] ext3 72992 2 jbd 56688 2 [ext3] __________________________________________________________________ New!
