C-Media 8738 onboard

Hello-

I have a C-Media 8738 onboard sound controller that I'm having problems 
with. It seems to not work at all. When I run the sound-config app, I 
don't hear the test sound, but it doesn't give me any errors, and it 
detects correctly. (RedHat 9, Soyo Dragon Lite KT-400 motherboard)

The funny thing is, I can play CD's through the CD player, but I get no 
other sounds.

Any ideas?
