Try a
cron job, every 5 min, that runs a script that runs the who command an grep
for the user if the value is returned then log it to a file or something.
Or run a script in their .login or .profile that dumps to a .log file.
Make sure that the permissions are set correct or they may wonder what the write
error is all about.
