Give more details about 192.168.1.1. What kind of DNS server is it?
What domains does it serve? What hosts does it know about? How is DHCP
configured? What values does it serve? What do "nslookup SOMEHOSTNAME"
queries return? What is in the machine's /etc/hosts file? What does
the "hostname -a" command return? What is it its /etc/resolv.conf
file? What is in all its files /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-*?
What do "ifconfig -a" and "netstat -nr" return?
