Choosing betweent LVM and RAID5

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Dear List,
I'm setting up a new Server with 5 hard drives each 20GB. My question is
which is better between Logical Volume Manager (LVM) and Raid5? Does LVM
offer any fault tolerance? Say if one hard drive crashes in the LVM, does
the Os continue working or I lose all data just like Raid 0. What are the
advantages of LVM?

TIA
Regards
