I have a D-Link DGE-550T network card installed recently. When i boot up
i get an error message that eth0 is not present delaying inialization.
It uses the dl2k driver.

Once up i have to manually run neat each time to get the card working. I
have tried modprobe dl2k and this gets eth0 up also. So the problem
seems to be with modprobe somewhere on boot. Card works fine on knoppix
and slax on bootup.

Any ideas ?

Add this line to /etc/modules.conf

alias eth0 dl2k

Thats what gets me, that line is already there.

--------- cat /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

ONBOOT=yes   ?

I had "dl2k" in /etc/modules.conf in uppercase (that's the way the system wrote it when i installed the card) wow what a slep to find that out. Well i am smiling now.
