Thank you Arjan, I prefer to keep my own kernel config, but the modutils could be handy. What changes does the initscript package make, and why is it needed. i see it contains an rc.sysinit script, sysctl.conf and inittab That seems a fairly drastic install, to have to change that many files to upgrade the kernel. thanks again, ivo.
