Subject: Notebook SO slow - any test programs for RH9?
Hi,
I just took a 4-year old notebook with 350Mhz Celeron
processor and installed Shrike on it. My problems:
- installing the WS standard system took some 9 h before it completed
- the system now works but at a speed that is comparable to
appr. 25 MHz processor speed
- KDE system satus looks OK, KDE system monitor shows no lack
of resources, no error entries in /var/log files either
Any ideas how I can locate the problem?

How much RAM do you have? Your HD is probably an old 4500RPM

I only have 64 Mb RAM - I know that is not enough for all needs. I also
have an old 4GB Toshiba drive. So I am far from optimal - but I know
it... I just re-installed Windows 2000 on i t (that used to work very
satisfactory in that notebook before...) but Windows ia now even slower
than Linux. There is definetely somethhing wrong with the equipment, I
was just wondering if there are any Linux-based error analysis tools
somewhere...

Pekka
