RE: /dev/hda3 is not a block device

The /dev/hda* directory listing is the problem. Remove the directory
'/bin/rm -rf /dev/hda3'. Then do a /dev/MAKEDEV had

That should remake all the hda device files and you should be ok at that
point. I would still do the fsck on /dev/hda3 and then mount it.
