Typically I save /etc, and then when doing the the clean install I tell it to leave the /home partition alone, along with any other special stuff like /opt or /usr/local if they are separate partitions. In an upgrade, there is always a lot of cruft that has to be sorted out by hand afterwards.
Hello again,
I'm wondering if I should or could do an upgrade from red hat 9 to fedora, or would it be best to just do a fresh install. Just got a fedora dvd and itching to try it out. But would like to hear some advice or opinions or just things to look out for if any. Thank you all,
Carlos
I haven't tried Fedora yet myself, but I would also vote for the fresh install.
