Looks like it works to me. What debug errors do you get when you try to start a program (remember to use the "-vv" in the ssh connection)? Is it a particular program that is giving you problems? Have you tried simple things like xeyes or xterm?
I was looking for a remote desktop originally, but I am enjoying the remote x as well.
