trouble with perl modules

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hello everyone.

I am trying to install Bundle::Xmms on my RH9 system. When I try to
install any perl module using cpan, I get an error message -
"/usr/bin/make  -- NOT OK"

While googling, I found that this is a known bug listed on red hat's
site.

In short, I tried the workaround, which was to:
export LANG=en_US   (also tried LANG=C)
perl -MCPAN -e 'install Bundle::Xmms'

and I still get the error message - /usr/bin/make -- NOT OK

I would really like to have this working. Does anyone have any
suggestions? Is there a way to compile this on another machine and
install it on my own?

Bug:  http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=87682

note: it looks like Chip Turner put out some "beta" rpms for perl 5.8.1
but I'm afraid to try them... he says they might break a lot of things
:)

Any help or pointers would be appreciated!
