glibc21 and bin file question

I have two questions:

First, how do I install a .bin file? I am testing a Lotus Notes 6 client under linux (RH9) but I have never worked with bin files. I have only compiled from source or used rpms. The site where I downloaded the client does not offer any instructions on installation, except a warning that users should not change the install path.

Second, there are two packages. One is called filename, and the other is filename-glibc21. I know this has something to do with the libraries installed on the machine, but I don't know how to check which library I have so I'll know which package to use.

Thanks for any assistance.
