If you copy everything off the D: partition to the C:, and then run the redhat install - you can tell redhat to take the "D" partition, and format it to ext3 (usually) - windows will not be able to use (or even see) the "D" drive again then. it will be as if the d drive has disappeared (at least from a windows point of view) If you want to keep the D drive - you need a partitioning program like partitionmagic to make a new partition with any empty space you may have on your c and d drives. then you can make a new partition and install redhat on that - after the redhat install this partition/space will not be visible to windows anymore.
