I have gotten as far as pppd recognizing the internal notebook (powernotebooks.com model C 3:16) 82801DB Agere AC'97 winmodem but it gets stuck trying to initialize it.

Settings are: /dev/ttyS0, Flow None, Line CR/LF, Speed 38,400 (we are luck to realistically get 28,800 here in the woods), pppd vers 2.4.1, Modem Commands Pre-Init 50, Init 1 ATZ, Init 2 (blank), Post Init 50, Dial Speed 70, INit Resp OK, No Dial Tone Det ATX3, Dial String ATDT, Connect Resp CONNECT, Bust Resp BUSY, No Carrier Resp NO CARRIER, No Dial Tone Resp NO DIAL TONE, Hangup String +++ATH, Hangup Resp OK, Answer String ATA, Ring Resp RING, Answer Resp CONNECT, Esc String +++
Esc resp OK, Guard Time 50, Vol off/low/high M0L0/M1L1/M1L3, ATI, AT1, ATI2, ATI3, ATI4, ATI5, ATI6, ATI7 (all blank)

Any thoughts, please?

Thanks! doc
