No, to add more drives to an existing array, you have to break and recreate
a new array.  However, it is possible to replace a failed drive without
going into the bios.  If you have 80pin SCA drives this is simple and
normal, but if you have 68pin drives, you have to be a little brave, but it
can still be done, its just not easy, or generally convenient.

Does this mean if you want to add a drive to a running system it will
automatically add it to the array?

Using Raid 5 here.
