Hello, I have just downloaded this kernel, from the redhat website!

kernel-smp-2.4.9-e.30.i686.rpm

when i install it using lilo it tells me:

[root@localhost boot]# lilo
boot = /dev/sda, map = /boot/map.0801
Fatal: Kernel /boot/vmlinux-2.4.9-e.30smp is too big
[root@localhost boot]#

should i use grub? or will that solve anything?
why is there a size limitation? the original kernel was almost the same
size:

-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root      3125982 Nov 28  2003
vmlinux-2.4.9-e.30smp
-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root      3097034 May  3  2002
vmlinux-2.4.9-e.3smp

thanks,

ivo.

i don't think the boot loader will matter. you could recompile from source and do some items as modules. that would shrink it some.
