Hello, I have just downloaded this kernel, from the redhat website!i don't think the boot loader will matter. you could recompile from source and do some items as modules. that would shrink it some.
kernel-smp-2.4.9-e.30.i686.rpm
when i install it using lilo it tells me:
[root@localhost boot]# lilo
boot = /dev/sda, map = /boot/map.0801
Fatal: Kernel /boot/vmlinux-2.4.9-e.30smp is too big
[root@localhost boot]#
should i use grub? or will that solve anything?
why is there a size limitation? the original kernel was almost the same
size:
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 3125982 Nov 28 2003 vmlinux-2.4.9-e.30smp -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 3097034 May 3 2002 vmlinux-2.4.9-e.3smp
thanks,
ivo.
