Tools to repair an AVI?

Does anyone know of a package/tool that can repair an AVI? It's codec is
Microsoft MPEG-4 v3 (ffmpeg). The file is definitely borked as both
Microsoft Media Player and Totem (xine-backend, from freshrpms, fully
updated) hang at exactly the same time during playback. I've heard of
tools that can repair such files but don't know exactly what to search
for or if such things exist on Linux. Any suggestions?

TIA.

Best, Darren
