I am wondering why the glibc is not provided in the athlon dir? This creates a possible point of failure. And quoting Murphy, this will happen sooner or later.

Don't try to "upgrade" i686 packages with i386 ones: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=88456
