Problems with apache and suexec

Hi,

I'm having a Problem with Apache and Suexec. I'm using the latest rpm's from RedHat.

Here is my Config:

#suexec -V
 -D AP_DOC_ROOT="/var/www"
 -D AP_GID_MIN=500
 -D AP_HTTPD_USER="apache"
 -D AP_LOG_EXEC="/var/log/httpd/suexec.log"
 -D AP_SAFE_PATH="/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin"
 -D AP_UID_MIN=500
 -D AP_USERDIR_SUFFIX="public_html"

#httpd -V
Server version: Apache/2.0.40
Server built: Jul 31 2003 11:36:14
Server's Module Magic Number: 20020628:0
Architecture: 32-bit
Server compiled with....
 -D APACHE_MPM_DIR="server/mpm/prefork"
 -D APR_HAS_SENDFILE
 -D APR_HAS_MMAP
 -D APR_HAVE_IPV6
 -D APR_USE_SYSVSEM_SERIALIZE
 -D APR_USE_PTHREAD_SERIALIZE
 -D SINGLE_LISTEN_UNSERIALIZED_ACCEPT
 -D APR_HAS_OTHER_CHILD
 -D AP_HAVE_RELIABLE_PIPED_LOGS
 -D HTTPD_ROOT="/etc/httpd"
 -D SUEXEC_BIN="/usr/sbin/suexec"
 -D DEFAULT_PIDLOG="logs/httpd.pid"
 -D DEFAULT_SCOREBOARD="logs/apache_runtime_status"
 -D DEFAULT_LOCKFILE="logs/accept.lock"
 -D DEFAULT_ERRORLOG="logs/error_log"
 -D AP_TYPES_CONFIG_FILE="conf/mime.types"
 -D SERVER_CONFIG_FILE="conf/httpd.conf"

ls -la /usr/sbin/ | grep suexec
-rws--x--x 1 root apache 49097 Jul 31 17:40 suexec

So everything looks nice. But when i add a User/ Group Directive in the httpd.conf, apachectl returns: User cannot occur within <VirtualHost> section. Also i can not find the suexec specific message in the error log.

So where is my fault???

Thanks in advance for any help

Greetings
