Desperately need help with configuring new monitor

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

My old monitor died last night (Pretty spectacular. Flames and
everything.) I went out and got a good deal on a refurbished 21" NEC
Multisync E1100+. Now my problem is that I need to make a new XF86Config
file and I seem to be stuck. (If I run X with the old config, I get
seriously screwed up distortion.)

>From a console login with no X running I ran redhat-config-xfree86 and
absolutely nothing happens. I did manage to surgically get X started by
reducing my resolution down to 1280x1024 but I do need to get back to my
old 1600x1200. I did try redhat-config-xfree86 -v and all I got was a line
that said that it was trying to read a config file.

Please please please! I need help. What should I do next? Also, please
tell me if I need to supply more info.
