PowerEdge + DLT IV + tar, restore from tape very slow

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi:
For backup/restore in a Dell PowerEdge 2600 with DTL IV tapes I use
'/bin/tar -cpf /dev/st0 /' for backup and '/bin/tar -xvpf /dev/st0 <file>'
for restore or '/bin/tar -tvpf /dev/st0' to see the content of tape backup.
The restore/see-content is very slow and I remember some thing related in
any list some time a go, but I can't find any reference. Anyone can point
me any tip or to information start-point? ( May be can be realted with UTF8
or device parameters? )

RedHat AS 21

TIA
