Mouse dies?

After seeing the current thread on the keyboard/screen dying, I thought I
would toss this in to see what everybody thought on the issue.

I've got a Logitech Cordless MouseMan Wheel mouse running with RH9 and the
nVidia X server drivers. Usually about once or twice a day, the mouse
pointer will freeze and I can no longer use the mouse to get around.

If I happen to have a console/terminal window open, I can start/restart
the gpm service and get my mouse back. Otherwise I have to
Ctrl-Alt-Backspace the X server and restart it to get the mouse back.

I've tried disabling the gpm service and that doesn't seem to help any.
This also occured with the default X server drivers that RedHat used when
I originally installed, so it doesn't seem to be a problem
specifically with the drivers that I downloaded from nVidia.

Here's the relevant sections from the /etc/X11/XF86config file:

Section "ServerLayout"
        Identifier "Default Layout"
        Screen 0 "Screen0" 0 0
InputDevice "Logitech Cordless Mouseman Wheel" "CorePointer"
        InputDevice "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard"
        InputDevice "DevInputMice" "AlwaysCore"
EndSection

Section "Module"
        Load "dbe"
        Load "extmod"
        Load "fbdevhw"
        Load "glx"
        Load "record"
        Load "freetype"
        Load "type1"
# Load "dri"
EndSection

Section "InputDevice"
        Identifier "Logitech Cordless Mouseman Wheel"
        Driver "mouse"
        Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
        Option "Protocol" "MouseManPlusPS/2"
        Option "Emulate3Buttons" "no"
        Option "Buttons" "6"
        Option "ZAxisMapping" "5 6"
EndSection

DRI was already disabled before I saw the earlier post on it.

Any suggestions? Thoughts?

I've got it to the point of mildly annoying, but would like to eliminate
it without getting a new mouse....
