I'm afraid I have no idea.

I needed to install a JVM on my machine to install Nokia's SDK for cell phones,
realized that Red Hat 9 contains a gcc-java package will can compile a java
program to byte-code, installed it, made a "Hello, World" work, the SDK
installation bombed, installed the j2sdk rpm from Sun.
I'll test it on Severn as soon as my test machine is back up and working.
