The first one requires a direct audio cable between your CD drive and your sound card (or chipset). The second one reads the audio samples from the CD and plays them back via your sound card. XMMS lower than and equal to 1.2.7 does not support the 2nd method itself. You would need to get the new XMMS 1.2.8 or install a separate plug-in, such as "xmms-cdread" provided by http://www.fedora.us - -- -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.2 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE/WMcv0iMVcrivHFQRAoOoAJ9OMilxlSIoL4wJcXiQkm6DFRgr7wCgh2zp z0eqpu3OJiX1X4kOFhbBxbg= =aMwz -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- Shrike-list mailing list Shrike-list@xxxxxxxxxx https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/shrike-list
