For Xcdroast, there is a non-root mode. Just follow the screen message
after installing. You will have to be root the first time only...
The last release is X-CD-Roast 0.98alpha14
rpm can be found here :
http://xcdroast.sourceforge.net/RPMS/a14/redhat-9/

It works for me on RH9.
