kppp point to a wrapper. Point your link to /usr/sbin/kppp, and make it 
suid root (chmod +s /usr/sbin/kppp). Take care, this is security hole, 
in case you put it on public computer.

For xcdroast I am not sure, never tried, but I suppose that procedure is 
similar to previosu one.
