Is there command line to read a tarball without decompressing it similar
to reading an ISO image without having it burnt on CD?
For example
tar tf linux-2.4.22.tar tar ztf linux-2.4.22.tar.gz tar jtf linux-2.4.24.tar.bz2
"tar vtf" and similar are more verbose. See the man page for real details.
