The simplest solution is not to do it in the first place! i686 glibc
->i686 glibc works fine, as will i386 glibc -> i386 glibc. The glibc rpms
are bug free, it is just the i686->i386 upgrade that is broken. If you
really want to persist in doing this, have a look at the glibc in rawhide,
and see if it is fixed there.
