try lynx --dump <url>
ie:
lynx --dump
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A34978-2003Aug23.html

The Washington Post requires (free) registration. It allows lynx (or
anything using the lynx user-agent header) through unhindered.
