2.6 = in development, not stable, testing only. You really need to get
your hands dirty to work with 2.6.

2.4.20 = stable current line of RedHat kernels

2.4.21 = kernel in testing for next RHL release. (kernel.org considers
2.4.21 stable- but if you don't have a specific need then stick with the
RedHat stable kernel aka 2.4.20) 


For what it's worth I have an four unnamed's in /proc/devices under
Block Devices- which looking at mount points on my system. The rest of
the entries in Block Devices map to the mount points. It doesn't seem
that your lsmod question is a bug. This kind of confirms the BIOS
harddrive callback support line of thought...
