iptables: Bad rule (does a matching rule exist in that chain?)

Just got this error message as I tried to network my RH9 notebook with
my RH8 desktop.

Determining IP information for eth0 ... iptables:
No chain/target/match by that name failed,
Hostname: localhost.localdomain
iptables: Bad rule (does a matching rule exist in that chain?)

/etc/sysconfig/networking/devices/ifcfg-eth0
DEVICE = eth0
ONBOOT = yes
BOOTPROTO = dhcp
HWADDR = 00:c0:9f:24:7b:55
USRCTL = no
PEERDNS = yes
TYPE = Ethernet

In case it matters I have installed SAMBA for access when at work. I am
guessing that may have complicated things.

Suggestions, please?

Note: please Reply All so I receive your suggestions directly at work
as well as here at home via the list.

Thanks!  doc
