I have installed RH9 on a dual-processor system using the smp 
kernel and had only one difficulty (which probably wasn't 
related to the dual processor) -- the system rebooted every 
time I tried to mount a CD-ROM.  This was fixed by turning 
off DMA on the CD-ROM drive as part of the start-up sequence 
(at the suggestion of someone on this list -- thanks :-) by 
the command

      hdparm -d0 /dev/cdrom
