I tried to find it in the Makefile but could not understand it. I think you are on the right track because /lib/modules/2.6.0-test1/kernel/drivers/scsi/aic7xxx contains 'aic7xxx.ko' not 'aic7xxx.o' running 'depmod' finds quite a few of these '.ko' files, .
