compiling kernel from kernel-source rpm

I've got a strange little dilemma.

I've downloaded and installed kernel-source-2.4.20-19.9.i386.rpm.

When I go to /usr/src/linux-2.4.20-19.9, and "make rpm", instead of creating
kernel-2.4.20-19.9.<anything>, it creates kernel-2.4.2019.9.<anything>.

The Makefile shows the proper "-19.9" info, but the "-" is getting lost
in the translation, somewhere.

I've done this in both bash and tcsh shells...I'm not sure what could be
causing this...has anyone else noted this behavior, and if so, how should
I correct this?

Thanks.
