I don't know if it's what the original poster was referring to, but the
smbmount bug I've encountered is number 89643, 'mount doesn't exit when
mounting a drive share'.  This has been reported mulitple times against
Samba, under different numbers, but it turns out that the problem is
actually in glibc:
