Normally the sound mixer startups with microphone sound level set to zero.
Take a look and if micro is silenced, pup up the volume ;)

hi, helpful folks!

how do i tell if my in-built microphone works on rh9? or get it to work for
that matter? i have a dell c840 laptop and 82801ca/cam ac'97 audio
soundcard if
it means anything...
