You should definitely upgrade. I had my ADSL ugrade last week-end using RH8 ( then I downloaded RH9 .iso files and upgraded the OS ). The ADSL setup in RH8 took around 10 minutes; there is a wizard that does most of the settings; what I had to add was ISP's settings ( DNS,account,domain) and that's all. In my RH "Network Settings" I have 2 entries : one for /dev/eth0 ( active by default ) and one for ADSL connection ( inactive by default - still ). What I do is to activate the latter and the connection is established.
