Something to bear in mind when testing 2.6 is that not all security fixesWell that seems a bit silly Joanne - but then again "wags" are known for their silliness, as we saw in the great y2k hype.
from 2.4 are in te 2.6 kernel. One wag on the kernel list suggested that
it should be called 2.6.0-hack-my-machine rather than 2.6.0-test1. It'd
be best not to expose it to a "hazardous environment" such as a direct
connection to the Internet.
(IMHO Linux absolutely thrives in "hazardous environments" where you wouldn't dare put a windows box)
In any case, the exploits are for local users - not anonymous external network connections. If you were already running 2.5.x, 2.6 should be no worse , security-wise....
