Try "ls -l /dev/cdrom" to see if the file exists and if so, what it is
symlinked to. (/dev/cdrom is normally a symlink to the device file for
your CD-R* device.)

If you are operating the CD-RW in SCSI emulation mode (sometimes
required for burning CDs), /dev/cdrom should be a symlink to /dev/scd1
. If you're using it in ATAPI (IDE) mode, it will be a link to /dev/hdX
where X is a letter from a to d.
	a = primary master
	b = primary slave
	c = secondary master
	d = secondary slave

Hope this helps!
