linux rescue works, you can mount the hda and nothing appears corrupted, but when you chroot or remount as root, all hell breaks loose. Late last night I was having problems using rpm from rescue and trying to point it to the db on hda. But it was late, and I as getting pissed by the minute :(, so I gave up. I won't be back out there until Tuesday, but I wanted to have my arsenal together beforehand. Saying I can get it back up what should I updated to try to clear this up. glibc, kernel etc. and in what order?

Thanks a bunch

| what happens with?
| linux rescue
|# rpm -qa --qf "%{arch} %{name} %{version}\n" --root /mnt/sysimage/

| linux is not windows ;-)

| anaconda ;-)
| $ rhn-applet-tui --verbose
| $ rhn-applet-gui
| and before update ignore
| kernel, glibc
| and install/freshen them %{arch} later by hand
| i think you will get something like
| athlon kernel
| i686 glibc
| glib* i386
