If you are interested in getting fortune again. There are music oriented versions, versions with less than PG13 fortunes, etc. Currently, I'm using the version from Psyche. The fortunes are starting to repeat. It is time for it to be updated and put back into the distribution.

It won't be back and never will be, period. See bug below for more
details. And do NOT add comments or start the conversation back as to
why not and all this, as Mike explains this very well, either via here
or bugzilla. Mike has stated his explanations and won't go further into
it. And if he's on this list and it starts back up, he'll leave and you'll be without the XFree maintainer to help you out. So I suggest
you leave this topic alone once you read the bug report.

I didn't think that I'd have to either stay with the old RHL 8 version or choose Mandrake, Debian or building from source. It isn't worth arguing over the absence from the distribution.

It is just surprising that the RHL distribution keeps getting smaller and smaller.

I would like to have the problem with my X shutting down properly corrected for my 490CDT computer. It has been broken since RHL 7.2.

I guess I'm the random email client, that uses the fortune output at the end of my messages.

I did get one person offended with some fortune about outerspace aliens. He was religious and didn't like the contents He was alright, after an explaination of where the signature originated.
