What's odd is it's happening late in the boot process but the information scrolls off the screen so I can see what was going on just before the panic.

Somewhere on the net I tracked down a little utility called MEMTEST that flushed it out for me. I can't explain why loading a new version would cause this, but it's certainly when the problem came to light for me!
