I installed the latest updated kernel. When I tried to burn a CD, it would freeze and only the cap locks and scroll lock buttons would work.

With kernel-2.4.20-9, I had no such problem. I burned the same files, after the unsuccessful attempt with kernel-2.4.20-13.9.

I tried with and without the ide-scsi option to the kernel. With the option removed, the disk was readable. With the option on, the disk was toast.

The problem seems to be with the finalizing portion. I was using gtoaster-1.0beta6-4.

Are others experiencing the same or similar problem with the kernel panic?

Following up with attampting to use xcdroast-0.98a13-4. I experienced the lockup where the machine would flash the cap locks and scroll lock LEDs.

The CD was usable. I burned without the ide-scsi option.

The failure was during the fixating disc process.
