The scanner was working on RedHat 8.0, I made a fresh install of RedHat

Even if I use the instruction modprobe

Forget about using the modprobe insturuction. Instead, modify your /etc/sane.d/epson.conf thus: Edit out the SCSI scanner entery and *enable* one of the final lines. ... and YES, the default file has two entries that have the exact content (as it was in RH 8.0).

# SCSI scanner:
#scsi EPSON
# first or the second entry.
#usb /dev/usb/scanner0
usb /dev/usb/scanner0

Then just run xane again, and it will recognise the scanner.
FYI, have a look at this RFE

It works, tnx.

Please note that I followed samer procedure as in previous releases.

1) mknod /dev/usbscanner0 c 180 48
2) chmod 666 /dev/usbscanner0
3) modified the line in epson.con to have usb /dev/usbscanner0

This procedure doesn't work.

I got back to last line as usb /dev/scanner0 and it worked immediately.

Tnx to all of you

Antonio
