USB keyboard problem with RH9 on Dell Dimension 8200

Ever since installing Red Hat 9.0 on my Dell Dimension 8200, the keyboard will
lock up at times and lose characters at other times.

The keyboard is a USB device Dell part number 06H257. The keyboard does
have some hotkeys for volume, playback ,and a sleep button. I have no idea
if these ever worked under Linux. This isn't a major concern at this point.
The mouse is a PS/2 device.

The problem occurs in the X/GUI and virtual terminals with no X server running.

If I switch the keyboard to a standard PS/2 type keyboard, everything seems
to work just fine.

Does anyone have any idea what could cause this type of behavior?

Regards,

Mark
