I just am trying to get sound going with alsa, using the rpms from freshrpms.net without any luck. Here is what I have:
You may be suffering the same thing as I did - if you've installed the kernel-source RPM, make sure you've configured that to match your kernel RPM: I use an i686 smp kernel, so I had to copy the i686-smp config to ".config" - browse the freshrpms.net archives for earlier this month for the exact make sequence (you don't need to rebuild the kernel, just re-config. the source dirs.)
